This exciting new initiative brings Canada’s best authors for young readers to Kingston and area elementary schools – sharing stories with students and demonstrating to our children and their families the power of words to inspire, entertain and enrich our lives.
The following lucky schools will host an Authors@School writer this fall:
Sarah Tsiang (Grades K-3)

Author of three illustrated children’s books A Flock of Shoes,
named a “10 Best Bets” book by the Ontario Library Association; Dogs
Don’t Eat Jam and Other Things Big Kids Know; The Stone Hatchlings,
new this year; and for older children, Warriors and Wailers: One Hundred Ancient
Chinese Jobs You Might Have Relished or Reviled.

Robert Priest (Grades 4-8)

Author of the children’s book The Secret Invasion of Bananas, an award-winning
musical Minibugs & Microchips, a young adult novel,
Knights of the Endless Day,
adapted from his play of the same name and winner of a Special Choice Award from
the Canadian Children’s Book Centre.
Wednesday, September 26
Kevin Sylvester (Grades 4-8)

Cartooning author of Game Day; Sports Hall of Weird;
Gold Medal for Weird, winner of the 2009
Silver Birch Award for Non-Fiction; and the Neil Flambé mystery series, featuring a 14-year-old
superchef who solves mysteries on the side.

Wallace Edwards (Grades K-6)

Illustrator and author of children’s picture books including Alphabeasts, which won the
Governor General’s Award; Mixed Beasts; Monkey Business;
The Extinct Files; The
Painted Circus; The Cat’s Pajamas; and new this year,
Uncle Wally’s Old Brown Shoe.
