Jane Urquhart, Joyce Carol Oates and “Paul Quarrington's People” headline Kingston Writersfest 2010
KINGSTON, ON — August 12, 2010. Kingston WritersFest today launched its 2010 festival lineup, unveiling a list of more than 60 well–known Canadian and international writers and performers who will appear at the five–day event at the Grand Theatre and the Holiday Inn Kingston Waterfront. Tickets to the festival go on sale today at the Grand Theatre Box Office (www.kingstongrand.ca/writersfest or 613-530-2050).
Kicking off the festival is an evening celebration of literary arts featuring “PQ’s People,” a multimedia
performance at the Grand Theatre on September 22nd, celebrating the life and work of writer and musician Paul Quarrington.

2010 Man Booker prize nominee to appear at Kingston WritersFest
KINGSTON, ON — August 12, 2010. On Saturday afternoon September 25 celebrated Canadian novelist Lisa Moore will appear with
fellow Newfoundland novelist Michael Winter in the KWF event Tales from the Rock. Earlier the same
day, Lisa will also conduct a KWF Writers Studio master class on Novel Architecture and will appear again at the popular KWF Saturday
Night Speak Easy, reading with nine other top writers from across Canada.

’Hooked’ women confront addictions to Hitler, murder, drugs and alcohol in one–woman performance at Kingston WritersFest
KINGSTON, ON — August 12, 2010. Kingston poet Carolyn Smart says “everyone has a hook” and it only takes
emotion to reveal it. That is the basis of her latest work, Hooked, a collection of poems that take on the remarkable voices
of seven famous or infamous women, each born between the First and Second World Wars, each beset by obsession and addiction.
Now, Smart’s good friend and actress Nicky Guadagni, under the direction of Layne Coleman, transforms the poems into a
series of dramatic readings, to be presented in an interactive presentation at the Kingston WritersFest.
