Catherine is the author of four novels, including Amazon.ca Best Book Accusation, Globe Best Book of the Year Claire’s Head, New York Times Notable Book The Rules of Engagement, and City of Toronto Best Book Minus Time. She is the coordinator of the Creative Writing MFA at the University of Guelph.

Catherine’s forthcoming novel Blaze Island explores climate futures as its main character, Miranda, uncovers her father’s past life as a climate scientist and explores how love and greed interfere with environmental action. Catherine often speaks about writing fiction on the climate crisis, and was a Fiction Meets Science Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Study in Delmenhorst, Germany.

She is based in Toronto.
