Wallace Edwards is a beloved children’s book author and illustrator with a background in education, and an impressive CV. In addition to the numerous award-winning picture books that he draws and paints by hand, Wallace keeps busy creating paintings and illustrations for no less than the Metro Toronto Zoo, the City of Toronto, the B.C. Ministry of the Environment, the Canadian Children’s Book Centre, the Canadian Wildlife Federation, and various magazines. While Wallace enjoys presenting to audiences of all ages, he finds visiting with students especially enjoyable, and says, “I like knowing that my audience has great imagination.”
That desire to engage the audience and encourage creative participation is delightfully apparent in his latest book, Once Upon a Line, which encourages young readers to complete the enchanted storyline on each page. Described as a “visual feast” by Quill & Quire, and no less than “a masterpiece” by Resource Links, this whimsical book is sure to become a classroom and rainy-day classic. “Perhaps most importantly,” notes CM Magazine, “Once Upon a Line allows children to recognize that even the grandest of ideas often begins from something rather small.”
Wallace lives in Yarker, Ontario.
